Hexahydrocannabiphorol -O , more commonly known as HHCPO, is a rather unique cannabinoid that is not found in the trichomes of the cannabis flower but is instead present in the seeds and pollen of the plant. This compound is actually made by chemically modifying THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) through a process called hydrogenation.
Initially, THC is isolated from the cannabis plant using a supercritical CO2 extraction technique. Next, the extracted THC is enclosed with hydrogen in a pressure chamber. This step allows the double carbon bonds of THC to be broken, thus giving rise to a hydrogenated form: HHCPO.
