CBD Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

Cannabis is the Latin name for a plant of equatorial origin, hemp, cultivated and domesticated in China 6000 years ago.

Primarily used in the textile or paper industry, hemp is best known today for one of its varieties with psychotropic properties, Cannabis sativa.

This species contains a drug, THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, found particularly in the upper, flowering part. Marijuana refers to the flowers of this plant, or trichomes, and has a high concentration of THC.

Hashish is the preparation obtained from cannabis resin.

Chemical analysis of a cannabis plant shows that it contains more than 400 different organic compounds, with essentially two major chemical families: terpenes (10-30%) and cannabinoids, in this case phytocannabinoids since they are of plant origin.

While THC represents 12 to 25% of a cannabis plant, cannabidiol or CBD represents only 1 to 4%, explaining why this phytocannabinoid has long gone unnoticed.

It is a bicyclic and lipophilic plant cannabinoid, known in international chemical terminology as 2-[(1R,6R)-6-isopropenyl-3-methylcyclohex-2-en-1-yl]-5-pentylbenzene-1,3-diol.

Although the two compounds are chemically similar, their pharmacological effects are completely different.

THC is a potentially addictive psychoactive substance, acting on CB1 receptors and secondarily CB2 receptors, leading to decreased alertness, with side effects such as paranoia or anxiety.

THC acts directly on the central nervous system like a drug. CBD (cannabidiol), which binds poorly to CB1 receptors, does not have this psychoactive effect on the brain, has no known side effects such as intoxication or euphoria, and is strictly non-addictive.

A comprehensive study by the WHO (2018) thus very clearly proves the perfect safety of CBD.

In France, the ANSM (National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products) long confused the two, explaining the debate and legal ambiguity that existed a few years ago. This is now theoretically resolved.

CBD hemp oils consist of a cannabidiol extract combined with an oil base , usually vegetable oil. Thanks to the fat in which the CBD is mixed (hemp oil or coconut oil, for example), it is more easily absorbed by the human body : it is a fat-soluble molecule (it dissolves in fat, but not in water). Buying hemp oil offers you two options: an oil with CBD isolate or a full - spectrum oil , which combines CBD with other cannabinoids naturally present in the legal cannabis plant. The effects are then more pronounced thanks to the entourage effect .

CBD cannabis oils are certainly one of the most versatile and easy ways to consume cannabidiol . Several methods of administration are available:

  • Sublingual CBD oil: the fastest way to experience its effects. Place a few drops under your tongue, wait 30 to 40 seconds, then swallow.
  • CBD oil in capsule form: simply swallow them and wait for digestion. The effects appear later, but the dosage is predetermined and taking them is extremely simple.
  • CBD oil in cooking: ideal for masking the taste. Place it on a sugar cube, in a spoonful of honey, or in any dish.
  • CBD oil for topical application : directly on the skin, to relieve skin irritation, or in massage.

Buying hemp oil allows you to enjoy the effects of CBD in a versatile and convenient form. Consumers seek a variety of effects:

  • Reduce daily stress,
  • Relieving chronic pain,
  • Combat insomnia and enjoy better sleep quality,
  • To encourage muscle recovery,
  • To benefit from the antidepressant effects of CBD,
  • Reduce skin irritations,
  • Taking action against acne problems.

The advantage of CBD oils compared to other light cannabis derivative products is the gentleness of their method of administration and the wide range of dosages they offer: enough to easily control their effects.

CBD cannabis pollen and resin are the legal form of what is commonly known as hashish .

This is simply an extraction of trichomes, small sticky balls located on the surface of cannabis flowers and containing cannabinoids, including CBD. This sticky substance is then pressed.

When the concentration of CBD and other cannabinoids is particularly high, the resulting pellet is very sticky : this is called CBD resin. When the concentration is slightly lower, the pellet is drier and more crumbly : this is then called CBD pollen.

Just like CBD flowers, CBD resin and pollen are perfectly legal, but nevertheless prohibited from being consumed by combustion: it is therefore not possible to smoke them.

Both are perfectly suited to vaporization , which will allow you, in addition to avoiding the harmful aspects of smoke, to fully enjoy the aromas offered by the variety from which your CBD cannabis pollen or resin was extracted.

You can also choose to consume them as an infusion, by placing a small amount in simmering water, accompanied by a fat.

CBD cannabis pollen and resin contain a particularly high concentration of cannabidiol and therefore offer numerous beneficial effects (relaxation, muscle relaxation, skin soothing, pain relief, anxiety reduction, and improved sleep quality, among others). Extracted directly from light cannabis plants, they also contain other cannabinoids with beneficial effects naturally present in the plant (notably CBG), as well as terpenes and flavonoids, enhancing the effects while also contributing to the full aromatic profile of a variety.

CBD flowers are simply cannabis buds rich in cannabidiol and harvested from a legal variety. This means the variety has been specifically selected for its high CBD content and the near absence of THC. Once mature, the CBD flowers are harvested, dried, and then packaged for shipment. The appeal of CBD flowers lies in their covering of trichomes , tiny vesicles containing cannabinoids , terpenes , and flavonoids : it is thanks to these that you can experience the effects and aromas of legal cannabis .

Smoking CBD flowers, even though they are legal, remains prohibited. However, it is possible to consume them by vaporizing or brewing them into an infusion. Rich in color, they also make original decorative objects for some collectors. Using CBD flowers is very simple :

  • Vaporizing CBD flowers: place the desired amount of plant material in the tank of your vaporizer and then follow the manufacturer's usage recommendations to enjoy vaping.

  • To infuse CBD flowers: roughly chop your flower and place a spoonful in simmering water for about ten minutes. Consume with a source of fat (such as whole milk) to benefit from the effects of CBD.
